When I paint the sky, I don’t think so much about a specific moment: I physically throw myself into the painting, starting from the background.
This working method, looking then at the final result, surprised me, because if I think too much about a precise image I get distracted and I’m too formal. Instead, if I start with myself and I throw the color to find that backlash that hit me, then then I can convey what I want. The elements of the city are decisive elements, which I insert in the final phase of the painting.
The presence of an urban context is for me an important sign of life, which indicates something that happens, lived, like those threads that give more depth and intensity to the sky.
Finally, those blues are a bit the reflection of some blue that I see when I get off in Rimini, and that always leave me speechless. My origin is always present also in subjects about Milan, like this painting.
Happy Monday and good week to all
