In recent years, my research on the Duomo has expanded. Before I almost always concentrated on the Madonnina that overlooked the intertwining of the tram wires. Then, I enlarged on the entire facade of the Duomo, always crossed by the tram wires. Now I also like to paint the square as a whole, with the absolute novelty of the people walking through it. In this painting the colors are those of dawn, the awakening that leads people to cross the square for going to work. The time we are living in, of absolute uncertainty due to Covid, is rendered well by the lower part of the picture: within that movement of people, who are trying to take back our daily lives, there is a wave that seems to want to sweep us away . But I am confident, because through the responsibility of all, we will be able to go through this moment. For me, painting today has a double value because art is a message of hope, like a caress that makes you look up and amazed by the beauty of things, like the warm and happy light that envelops the square.
Happy Monday and have a good week you all
