What I freally like about my job is the chance to travel. Last week I went to the Fondation Beyeler in Basel to see the exhibition of Rudolf Stingel, a formidable artist able to use the most ancient means of art history, painting, and make it always new. The painting you see below (where I also had a picture taken) of 335x459cm oil on canvas left me breathless! I drew my English in front of the lady who took the picture: This painting is wonderful!
I had looked at Stingel in particular for one of my most recent works on the mountains, Hellbronner Peak, a painting composed of 4 canvases.
Black and white convey to me a sense of ancient, of a past that thanks to painting revives and speaks to me with ever new emotions.
Speaking of travel, next Monday I will write you from Iceland!
Happy Monday and good week everyone
