I read this article in Corriere della Sera by Beppe Severgnini entitled: Coronavirus our fragility and it reminded me one of my recent work that I made about the poles of the Rimini dock. I was struck by a passage in the article in which he says: “who knows if we will learn something from what is happening. For example, if we remember that we are fragile …” I found that fragile in this painting in those two ropes that start from the pole in the middle of the water, so thin that they almost disappear yet there are, clinging to the pole, and they are the element that gives stability and balance to the whole picture. When I paint I often surprise myself with unexpected details, which suddenly acquire a structural importance, due to their fragile beauty.
Happy Monday and good week everyone!
