“The painting must always move beyond its subject”, says British painter Michael Simpson. I totally agree with him, I think you can not just stop at what you see, but must have the courage to go further, dig into the first impressions of the things that struck you, in order to find out their meaning and their deepest beauty. In this painting, a small oil on cardboard (15x34cm), I sketched the skyline and I tried to release the color in the yellow part of the picture, in order to give light to the sky.
