Monday 29th March 2021- Milano Wires

As I told you last week, in this period I am working on the skies and wires of Milan. In this painting my attention is entirely focused on the breadth of the sky. To begin this work I started from the canvas on the ground, throwing several layers of different acrylic colors very diluted with water. While the color was still wet, I dried the color and gave body to the clouds with some paper and rags. Once the sky was finished, I inserted the wires that cross the city. I started – as always – from a photographic image, but this time I selected only the details of the lines, to give that feeling that I often get when I am in the middle of the tangles of the wires of some streets from Milan. When I observe them they convey to me a sense of balance and tension at the same time, as if they were stretched blades that tear the sky, but also indestructible bonds that push the gaze upwards, like “moorings” on the horizon. I am particularly satisfied with this work, because I have been trying to make a sky with this synthesis for a long time. It strikes me a lot how after the work of the moorings, with the ropes immersed in the water, now were born these skies, dripping with water, with these lines that cross time.
