Few days ago I took the Bernina Red Train from Tirano to Sankt Moritz. A crazy sight, with the snow covering all the mountains and the blue sky with gradual mixtures of grays glued my eyes. I have a lot of material to continue my work on the mountain! Waiting for the new works, I propose one of my paintings of 2015, which represents a peak that is part of the Red Train route, the Piz Alv. An intense picture […]
The journey of the Bernina Red Train goes on, crossing the snow towards Sankt Moritz. I like jumping from a subject like Ireland to the mountains, for me it’s an interesting challenge: what I look for in every subject is a direction, as in this painting with a great vertical impact. The play of lights between the snowy peaks and the sky surprised me, I did not expect such an attractive synthesis. And everything helps: pencils, pastels, oil paints and […]
There are moments so impressive that I feel the need not to lose them. The whole route of the Bernina Red Train in the middle of the snow-capped Alps of the Engadine is one of those moments. The shadow of the train is reflected in the snow that breaks into the picture: how much enlightening is the snow! It seems almost blinding in the contrast with the intense petrol-blue sky. I chose this work to start this new week because […]
In this crossing towards the Bernina I wanted to focus on the freshness of the snow, and I got this effect by leaving the texture of the canvas white and adding a few touches of pink pastel to trace the path of the railway. The blue sky, very dark, makes me taste the restful contrast of the snow. Nature always inspires me, the more I look at it, the more I follow it. Happy monday and good week everyone!
